BACKGROUND

Noticed my '25 BS BB stopped updating its location in the FordPass app since 4/17/25 1500 EDT.

Called the number in the FordPass app. They had me try to remotely lock the vehicle which failed. Then had me go to Sync Settings, Connectivity, Connected Services, which displayed a message that it was currently not available and to try again later. According to the rep, it is a common occurrence and I would have to take the vehicle to the dealer to have them reset the TCU module.

FORSCAN TO THE RESCUE

Used Forscan to reset the TCU module, which did not solve problem. Then performed the TCU on-demand self test which reported no problems detected. Was able to restore telematics connectivity.

QUESTIONS

I seem to recall receiving at least one OTA firmware update that indicated that it was updating the telematics unit since taking delivery in February.

Have others had problems with the TCU locking up?

If it happens again, should take it to the dealer or are they simply going to do the exact same thing and send me on my way?

Thanks for the link. I'll have to try that if it occurs again. This link seems to have instructions for all the various Sync versions. Ford Sync Master Reset

A subsequent search of various Ford forums indicate TCU lock up is a common problem, with symptoms ranging from simply no FordPass connectivity to excessive battery drain. Dealers often don't know how to fix the problem and inform the customer it needs a new TCU module, which in most cases is on backorder. Great if the vehicle is still under warranty, but still massively inconvenient. Customer reported solutions include disconnecting the battery, pulling the TCU fuse, and disconnecting the TCU under the dash.
