Hey BSF, Cory here with some questions regarding our lifted BB. we used the HRG kit, it’s been lovely and the look and extra ground clearance is great.

We’re now having a clunk in the front end, I was thinking end links because of all the people with subpar quality links. but has anyone blown apart a top hat? or maybe something loosened in the front I should double check?
i wanted to pick yalls brains before i go tear this thing apart in the freezing weather.

I have the very original version of the rough country lift dealer installed and this happens to me once or twice a year. It is always the sway-bar end links coming loose and needing to be tightened up. Not sure if it is the same with HRG, but sounds similar although mine sounds a bit lower in pitch when it happens. Sort of like a thunk

Thanks man, I’ve seen all the hubbub about the end links, that was my first guess but KNOWING my luck it’ll be something nobody has ever seen before ?

Mine thunks as well. I finally gave up taking it in for them to check it. As long as the noise stays the same they tell me mine is OK. Mine is a BB as well.

can you guys replicate the noise at slow speed, but quick left and right steering back and forth?

I can not duplicate the sound simply turning the wheel. Only on bumps when the momentum is transferred via the swaybar. I did have a similar issue before hearing a similar noise upon turning the wheels, it was a loose strut tower nut allowing for the strut to move slightly at full lock, or quick turning movements.

tried it while parked and it won’t make any noise. soon as i start moving and compressing the suspension it acts up…

i ended up taking a look and it looks like the “trusted shop” i said i took it to never greased my fittings… over 25k now ?

End links for sure. Had the same thing on mine. HRG switched to different ones after a while for more reliable ones.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but did greasing the fittings help the sound go away? Was it something else?

I recently had HRG 1.5” installed on my BL, and I too have similar thunk from front suspension area. Shop confirmed everything is snug and operational, but it still makes the noise.
