When I started my BS BB tonight, the amber wrench indicator light came on, and an information message popped up Service vehicle soon. I pressed OK to clear the message. As I drove home, the wrench light stayed on and the message continued to pop up after each time I cleared it. I checked the manual and the amber wrench indicator light signals a problem with the powertrain and/or 4WD.
After reading the manual for about 20 minutes, I went back out and started the vehicle. No amber wrench indicator light or information message. I drove around for 10 minutes without any problems. I've had my BS for 5 weeks and now have 2500 miles on the vehicle.
Has anyone else noticed this odd occurrence?

Take it to the dealer while the wrench is showing. Only Ford computers can read those errors.

These error messages look like they are happening more frequently and are becoming worrisome. Hopefully it’s something that is easily fixed and all will get sorted with your BS.

After combing over the forums I have seen a number of threads with CEL/power train lights on dash and am wondering about QC. Hopefully there are more out driving around fine then there are that have been seeing issues.

I agree. I’m about to place an order for a Badlands and it’s a little worrying.

The number of these reports, which are similar in nature, is concerning.

I have a '21 Badlands so far no problems and there are large numbers of problem free sports out there. Well over 100,000 sports have been sold. The number of problems vs number of units sold is low.

What I did was before signing look vehicle over closely, take for test drive on back roads and highway, make sure radio heat ac work ect. Don't accept vehicle unless you are completely sure you are happy. Be prepared to walk if you see problems. That does not eliminate chance of issues but at least you know you starting out with vehicle that runs good.

Buying new or used vehicle always a risk. Non of them are 100 percent guaranteed defect free.

Also if not comfortable go with something else.

This is the question. What is the number and severity of problems reported by Bronco Sport owners compared to the industry average?

As Bill mentioned, there is no such thing as a 100% defect-free guarantee. What's MORE important to me is how Ford handles reported problems. A lot of people are reporting dissatisfaction in this area as well, and Ford (including its dealership-based service network) has blamed pandemic-related supply chain and labor issues. From what I can see, this also is an industry-wide problem, not just with Ford.

We will definitely look the vehicle over very closely and take it for an extended test drive to make sure there are no immediate or obvious problems.

Our 2016 Fusion had no mechanical problems whatsoever, and our current vehicle, a 2019 Escape, has had zero mechanical problems.

I'm not sure what triggered the powertrain indicator light last night. This morning I noticed a FordPass message notification regarding Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power with a date/time stamp of when it occurred. I guess the positive thing is the FordPass tracking app gives us a running history of when these things happen so we have documentation when we take it to the dealership service dept.

Ford using inferior parts due to shortages? Poor assembly?

People don't create threads to discuss the day they didn't get a wrench icon. If we did, you probably couldn't find the wrench threads.

Labor shortages and parts shortages are still wide spread across all makes. But before pandemic a lot of Ford dealers horrible service incompetent dishonest not able or willing to fix anything. But there are some good ones out there too. Have to read online reviews talk to others in your area see if they can recommend and hopefully find a good one. Lincoln dealers can do Ford warranty work. That where my father in law takes his Ford and loves their service so much only place he will go now.

i just got the same wrench light/warning tonight.....started the BS and it sounded extra throaty but didnt notice anything else so I decided to put some gas in it to see if that would help......gassed up started up and no light......ran smooth and less throaty.

2022 Big Bend 1.5l..... NY where we just had a rapid decrease in temperature. not sure if that affects the BS.
